National Outcome: Economic SustainabilityOUTPUT 1: Administration & Finance1.1 General Administration & Financial Control Provision of efficient administrative and financial management support to the technical divisions of the Ministry to ensure the smooth implementation of their respective work programmes, while at the same time satisfying the requirements of the MFEM, PERCA and other legislation pertaining to the use of public funds.
1.2 Administration of Animal Health Policy Facilitating the development and production of domesticated animals through animal health and extension service, and also monitoring and reporting the status of animal diseases including bird zoonotic diseases which may impact on both the local livestock sector as well as the population.
OUTPUT 2: Crop Research & Development Contributing to the sustainable development of commercial and subsistence agriculture through the promotion and adoption of improved agricultural technological advances. As the need arises, propagation of vegetables and fruit seedlings and ornamentals to cater for the requirements of farmers and florists. Undertake extension field visits and field days for the benefit of farmers, and respond to farmers’ requirements for damage assessments and reports.
OUTPUT 3: Biosecurity Management Ensuring sustainability of agriculture development and the maintenance of environmental quality through the management of pests, diseases, and boarder control measures.
OUTPUT 4: Coordination of Funded Projects & IT Maximising benefits to Cook Islands agriculture by strengthening and maintaining international links through the exchange of information and knowledge, and securing foreign resources (financial and technical) to supplement local resources aimed at facilitating agricultural development initiatives. Maintain the Ministry’s computer workstations and the Internet/E-Mail network system, and provide assistance to staff in developing their knowledge base of the Ministry’s technological equipments.
OUTPUT 5: Punanganui Market Promoting the Punanganui Market for both agriculture and non-agriculture micro business activities, efficient administration and management of the facility, orderly organisation of events, landscaping, formulation and submission of project proposals for outside funding to upgrade the general status of the facility. |
